Ginger helps control Infections, one of the natural oils in ginger is gingerol. Gingerol is a primary bioactive compound in ginger that suppresses fungal, viral, and bacterial infections. Its anti-inflammatory compounds make it very effective in treating oral health problems and different gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, which can damage the gum and destroy the jawbones. Frequent use of ginger will ward off pathogenic bacteria that cause diseases like pneumonia, bronchitis, and infections in any of the urinary tract organs. It also helps to combat viruses that cause respiratory infection.

  • Upset Stomach: The idea that ginger can help with some light tummy trouble isn't new. Research has linked multiple digestive benefits to ginger, specifically acting on parts of your GI tract responsible for feelings of nausea, stomach upset, and vomiting. It may also help move food from the stomach to the small intestine for digestion and absorption. That said, ginger cannot prevent food poisoning or counteract ingestion of a harmful substance, so contact your physician ASAP if something requires urgent medical attention.

  • Morning Sickness : Pregnant women, in particular, should take note: Ginger may help reduce symptoms of morning sickness! Research supports ginger's safety and efficacy during pregnancy, with some improvement in symptoms when compared to a placebo. Regular ginger supplementation isn't recommended in pregnancy because it's unknown how it could affect the developing baby. However, in one study, pregnant women given 1 gram of ginger per day saw a decrease in nausea and vomiting, an anti-nausea effect that can benefit anyone.

  • Heart Disease: The same anti-inflammatory compounds in ginger can also reduce the risk of chronic disease. A 2016 review even linked regular ginger intake with lower cholesterol and blood sugar compared to a placebo. But just like diabetes, eating ginger can't offset an otherwise poor diet high in saturated fat and added sugar. You'll still have to consume more veggies, 100% whole grains, lean proteins, fish, legumes, and beans to reduce your risk.

  • Gastrointestinal Distress: Treating a stomach in distress. Ginger enhances gastric emptying, which in turn helps control stomach pain, bloating, and gas.

  • Anti Inflammatory Benefits: Gingerol has anti-inflammatory properties, which are being studied for potential cancer treatment and prevention effects. One small study suggested that ginger helped reduce tumor growth; another study showed a reduction in many inflammation markers in the colon, which the authors suggested could reduce colon cancer risk.

  • Possibly lowering Cancer Risk: Ginger does not provide protein or other nutrients, but it is an excellent source of antioxidants.  Ginger can reduce various types of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress happens when too many free radicals build up in the body. Free radicals are toxic substances produced by metabolism and other factors. The body needs to eliminate free radicals to prevent cellular damage that can lead to a range of diseases, including cancer. Dietary antioxidants help the body get rid of free radicals.
